Orcosmica



Orcosmica is a rail shooter where instead of a spaceship firing lasers and missiles, you play as an orca using their telekinetic powers to defeat enemies and progress through levels! Both the gameplay and some visuals was heavily inspired by the game Control.

  • Orcosmica was the fourth group project we did at Futuregames, we were 8 students working on this game for 6 weeks.
  • It's made in Unreal Engine.
  • I was one of two level designers, I was a technical level designer.
  • Orcosmica won Best Level Design at the 2024 Futuregames Awards.

I was the level designer for the first level. We wanted the first level to be space-themed. I built several blueprints to be used in all levels of the game which gave me the credit of Technical Level Designer for this project. I built proximity-based moving blocks and moving, looping blocks used in a meteor shower sequence at the end of the first level.

The theme for this group project was "Antagonist". We had no artists in our team for this project so we hade to deal with simple graphics. We had a small budget for paid assets which included the orca. I think our team worked really well together and I'm happy with how the game turned out!

Orcosmica won Best Level Design at the Futuregames Awards
